Rutland Middle School students and staff are starting a new project this spring with the assistance of various community groups. The project, the RMS-RIS Community Garden, will serve to provide hands-on learning opportunities with community service for the two schools. The project is getting assistance from all over, including the following groups and organizations:

RMS: Kristen Kirchoff and Sara Gregory

Rutland Area Farm and Food Link (RAFFL): Tara Kelly and Jon Place

Rutland City Public Schools: Mary Moran,  John Rice, and Marty Irion.

Rutland High School: Tim Gilbert

Rutland Recreation Department: Cindy Wight and EJay Bishop 

Stafford Tech Forestry: Mark Skakel

Sustainable Rutland: Carol Tashie and Jim Sabataso

Tapestry Program: Diana Pfenning

Community Members: Mayor Chris Louras and Judy Louras
