Good Morning! I’ve been a teacher since 1968. That makes today my 41^st opening of school. And for each one I’ve felt exactly the same. First, I say “I can’t believe the summer’s over.” But second and foremost, I’m excited and enthusiastic about a new beginning. I hope all of you share in those same sentiments.

Those of us who serve on the Board take a lot of pride in the Rutland City Schools. Translated that means we take a lot of pride in the work that you do. And I want to thank all of you for your efforts: for those who worked hard all summer to prepare our buildings; for those who spent time this summer learning new things to improve your skills and help your students; and to those who spent time planning and preparing for a successful opening.

The Board, at our retreat last week, reaffirmed our commitment to “success for all our students”. We will support you in whatever it takes to achieve that goal. Once again thank you and have a great year.

The Rutland City Board of School Commissioners meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 PM at The Longfellow Building on Church Street. The meetings are televised on Channel 20 on Comcast Cable TV.
