Mary E. Moran – Superintendent

Mary Moran has served the Rutland City Public Schools since 1996, first as Assistant Superintendent and, since March 2000, as Superintendent of Education. Prior to moving to Rutland, Ms. Moran, a Boston native, was a public educator in Massachusetts for many years. She was a high school history teacher, class and student council advisor and tennis and volleyball coach in Braintree, served as Assistant Principal at Wellesley High School, and Principal at Franklin High School. Ms. Moran has served on various education and community boards and projects, including the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, the Vermont High School Task Force, the Vermont Superintendents Association, of which she is currently Past President, and the American Association of School Administrators Executive Committee. Locally, Ms. Moran serves on the Teaching American History Project Advisory Board at Castleton State College, is a Past President and current Board Member of the United Way of Rutland County and serves as a member of the Rutland Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees and the Rutland Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Ms. Moran graduated from Boston College with a BA in history, with honors. She also holds a Masters degree in American Studies from Boston College and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in School Administration from Northeastern University.
